River Dee
Tuesday! Dinner time and I´m still asleep after playing Call of Duty all night with my girlfriend. Then the phone rings, it´s Henric.
- Markus cant make the trip, you wanna go?
I cant really say that I was hard to convince for this trip. 24 hours later I´m sitting in Amsterdam drinking a beer waiting for my next departure. The time in between where rather hectic.
My passport was in northern Sweden so had to get a new one just for this trip, expensive!! It was impossible to take Markus ticket directly to Aberdeen thats why I traveled alone to Amsterdam at first. At last I needed new waders and boots. Thanks Amer!! But it was worth it! Scotland is wonderful! River Dee is beautiful! A big thanks to my girlfriend who is willing to drive me half across Sweden just so I can go fish :)
Our ghillie in Scotland was Ian Fraser. Even though it was on part time we felt very good in his company. He started the fire in the cabin (Helene loved this part), showed our beat (hotspots). He even drove us around when ever needed and he was around.
The last day I had big trouble with the wind I my aggression almoust got out of hand. So I sat down and started my Ipod. Then I started fishing more relaxed and I found a way to handle the wind. So there I stand singing to my favourite music when it finally stroke! Fish on! Without any bigger struggling i landed my 68 cm springer, about 7 pounds. After releasing the fish I went up to Henric with probably the biggest smile ever. At first my ide was to trick him that I got so angry that I throughed my gear into the water. But I was to happy!! So after some hugging and talking I had to text my pictures to somebody. Because when I released the fish I dropped the camera into River Dee. I would probably have cried like a little baby if the pictures didn´t survive.
Anders caught two kelts directly in the morning. So the last day we got some action.
This wasn´t the last time we visit River Dee!!! If the wallet says: - Yeah lets go! Then it might happen this year again....
Big thanks to all that made this trip worth its stress!
Henric, Anders, Helene, Ian and Shawn (monkey man)!

The beat that we had was called Commonty. A very nice part of River Dee, perfect for flyfishing. When we arrived the water level was rather low. But during the afternoon the water raised and many of the bigger stones got under water and the fishing became more difficult. The first two days I didn´t feel anything. Henric and Anders didn´t either caught any fish but they had some pulling in their flies. So if you would have asked me friday night about the fishing I probably would have said something that I had to regret:). Normally I fish for pike. The waiting for catching a salmon is crazy!!! You will need a shrink if you ever start with this kind of fishing!!
